Elder Samuel Melton Sr. was born September 3, 1950 in Clarksdale, MS to the late Suffragan Bishop T.J. Melton Sr. and the late Evangelist Ossie Lee Bluntson Melton. He has four brothers (two deceased) and three sisters (one deceased). He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at an early age and received the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop T.J. Melton.
He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and received a degree form Coahoma Junior College, now Coahoma Community College. He also served in the United States Army and worked for the United States Postal Service for forty-one years in various positions.
Elder Melton served under Suffragan Bishop Melton in numerous positions: Deacon, Treasurer, Board Member, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Jail Ministry, Drug Rehabilitation Ministry, Street Ministry, and other positions of service. Eller Melton was appointed Assistant Pastor of Greater First Apostolic Temple and was installed as Pastor in November 2004. Elder Melton was ordained through the Aenon Bible School Distant Learning Program (Summa Cum Laude) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World under the leadership of Diocesan Bishop Clifton Jones.
Elder Melton and his lovely wife, Evangelist Christine E. Melton, have been married for forty-two years. Lady Melton is the owner and director of Melton’s Educational Center, where she teaches Higher Education to children ages 2 and a half through 5 years of age. She also labors in the ministry, and together they have four children, four blended family children, twenty-one grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
